About the Author
Since graduating from High School Faythe Levine hasn t stopped working on project after project. Her interest in outsider communities, artists and the stories and people whom often get overlooked have propelled her to travel extensively. The constant in Faythe s 20 years of creative work is her dedication to documenting her day to day life and travels through photographs and correspondence (once handwritten letters, now more commonly through social networking sites). This dedication has allowed her creative community to have an international reach full of a variety of both famous and infamous people of all types. Sam Macon is a filmmaker. He directs television commercials, music videos, short form documentaries and Web based video content through production company Radar Studios. He also helms commercial projects in Paris through Cosa Productions and in Moscow with Bazaleves Films. He is currently working on the feature length documentary Sign Painters. In addition to directing, Sam has taught video production at the Chicago Portfolio School and has been a guest lecturer at DePaul University and Syracuse University.

Fascinating Book on an Overlooked Artform

The authors of this book should be commended for bringing to light a profession that, I for one, had never stopped to consider. Each chapter presents an oral history of a specific painter with beautifully reproduced examples of their work. This was a fascinating read from beginning to end and has caused me to view the city around me through a much more appreciative lens. Even though the industry as a whole has been in decline for a number of years, some of the artists in this book indicate that a renewed focus on hand-drawn sign painting has been slowly occurring. Let's hope they're right.

I am one of these guys....

This book is an incredible "blast from the past" for us experienced old school sign painters. The book posits the notion sign painting is enjoying a renaissance after nearly three decades of computer driven cookie cutter signs being made by people without traditional design skills or talents. I'm slowly seeing this happening in my market area and couldn't be more happy. Excellent read with very high qulity images.

Indeed, as Steven Knoblauch observes, the music of psychotherapy has been acknowledged across a variety of theoretical orientations, from Freudian to self-psychological to interpersonal and relational perspectives. In The Musical Edge of Therapeutic Dialogue, Knoblauch provides a model of "resonant minding" in which the musical elements of speech become a major source of information about unconscious communication and action. More specifically, resonant minding, by distinguishing between discrete and continuous levels of communication, between the verbal and the musical, offers a way of accessing and affecting levels of unconscious interactive process by attending to the musical edge of dialogue -- provided only that we can hear it.

Drawing on detailed clinical vignettes, he explores shifts in embodied dimensions of musical expression including rhythm, tone, pauses and accents across a sequence of patient-therapist interactions in order to show how the dyadic logic of mutual improvisation operates at the periphery to guide the continuous flow of unconscious communication and mutual regulation. In so doing, Knoblauch provides a vivid sense of how the shifting movement of the patient's "solo performance" can be facilitated and enriched by the creative "accompaniment" of the therapist.

Ultimately, Knoblauch argues, the music of therapy is not only another road to the unconscious, but one uniquely able to convey emergent meanings in a variety of domains, from conflicting cultural identifications to the experience of the body to the emergence of desire. His vision of mutual immersion in a shared "performance" aimed at fostering growth coalesces into a major contribution - at once evocative and clinically consequential - to the current movement to grasp nonverbal behavior and processes of mutual regulation as they enter into all effective psychotherapy.

About the Author
Steven H. Knoblauch, Ph.D., is a faculty member and supervisor at the New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis and the Institute for the Psychoanalytic Study of Subjectivity in New York City, The Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, and The Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center, all in New York City. In his early 20s, Dr. Knoblauch pursued a dual career in community mental health and as a jazz musician. He entered psychoanalytic training 17 years later and has endeavored to integrate his musical experience into his clinical practice.

Very good guide!

This is a very well organized, detailed, step-by-step guide! It includes everything from financing and policies to service delivery to program evaluation. It is great having it all in one book. It is also based upon and references the most important evidenced-based research, citing Michael Fiore's work and the effective 5 A's of cessation intervention. I would like to see more sample policies provided, but overall this is an excellent publication that I was pleasantly surprised to find!

I have really enjoyed this cookbook, not only because it is beautiful to look at with pictures for every recipe, but I love how the book is broken into helpful chapters. No Fuss Foods chapter has been so helpful giving tips on how to use easy, pre-chopped ingredients for less stress on my joints. All of the nutrition information and recipes in the Vitamin C, Omega 3 and Bone Building Chapters have been awesome, and they are so delicious the whole family enjoys eating these nutritious meals too.

I was so excited to find a cookbook for RA. We have made 5 items (1 breakfast, 1 energy snack, 3 dinners) and all have turned out great. Easy to follow recipes, family friendly, and most of all, tasty! The book is divided by what you want to focus on (energy, diabetes, quick, etc.) and have noted freezer and gluten. One of my best purchases!

Costume Designer's Heaven

This book is an excellent reference for those who wish to study the fashion of English women's clothing in the nineteenth-century. Sumptuously illustrated, it also has helpful commentary about the clothing's details, including information about what influenced the design, materials used, the situation in which the garment would have been worn, and what type of person would have worn the garment. It is a wonderful reference for the costume designer or student of fashion. This is one of the most useful books for nineteenth-century fashion I have found.

A Must-Have Resource for Costumers!

Absolutely the best resource for women's clothing in the 19th century. Includes photos and line drawings of actual clothes (all B&W in this edition, unfortunately). Most importanly, gives details on every aspect of clothing- from fabrics, trmis, shoes, under garments to hats, fans, and coats year-by-year. Also lists changes in each year's fashions. A must-have for those interested in Regency and/or Victorian eras, especially! It's my cosutme Bible!

An amazing amount of detail

Cunnington's year-by-year survey of fashionable English women's costume in the 19th century is replete with detail. The only flaw is the absence of color photographs, hampering the historian or recreationist who is attempting to ascertain the exact hue of "Solferino" or "Isabella". In addition, if you need a general reference for 19th century costume, or are interested in the attire of persons of the lower orders, you will have to look elsewhere.

In the second part, a postpositivist concept of legal validity and an innovative model of validity discourse, based on the juristic presumption of the validity of legal norms, are proposed.
