Poor
By Dimitri Shvorob
People praising this book are like a North Korean family admiring a Russian tape recorder - I wonder what happened and limited their experience so radically as to make this POS look like an attractive product.
The software-guide genre is easy on a weak author: you can fill a lot of space with screenshots, you can come up with many "story lines" - describing features and use cases - and you can fall back on the software vendor's documentation. This particular author distinguishes himself only with poor English, zero editing effort, and bold borrowing from Microsoft docs. (Occasionally, he just pastes a screenshot of a "help" screen).
Chapter 5 alone has material that would be appropriate for a beginner's SSRS book. Elsewhere, you see installation screenshots - one installs and (halfway) configures SQL Server, SSRS, SharePoint, PowerView, Report Builder and Azure SSRS: almost 200 pages right there - and random topics; bar PowerView and Report Builder, these are administrator-focused or fairly advanced.
An unusual forte of the book is its coverage of programmatic access to SSRS - here, one even calls SSRS Web service from SSIS. I am really not familiar with this angle, and somehow doubt that at least this material is original and of good quality, but I may be wrong, and the book could be useful to SSRS developers interested in that side of SSRS. (But only when the book is on sale. Packt frequently runs promotions, and last week their site was selling the e-book for $5).
It's an easy "pass" for everybody else. Instead, take a look at Brian Larson's books if you are a beginner, or check out the impressive "Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services" by Misner if you are in the intermediate camp.
PS. I am an MCSE: BI.

Powerful and Detailed: Four Star, Deserves Five
By Amazon Customer
I have purchased another SQL Server Reporting Services, or SSRS, book previous to this one and this text is far superior.
First, it is well organized. Starting with the table of contents and throughout. Second, it covers topics I've not seen in any other text: Installation, Azure, integration with VS 2012 (I actually need this part in a few more months), caching, and SharePoint integration.
I will say the price is a bit high for the book iteself, the only reason it received four stars instead of five. While the eBook version is almost 1/2 the cost, the book version is pricey. Perhaps the publisher drives the price up, not sure.
I welcome any questions you may have. I am sure I will reference this often.

Excellent hands-on content
By Timothy A. Grove
I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of hands-on labs in the book. Not only the use, but the installation as well. Many times working through the labs in these type of books can be challenging, and it was great to see step-by-step instructions with screen shots.
This book can be used as a primer for those wanting to learn, as well as a reference resource.
