Attraverso l’arresto di Weiwei, il mondo intero si confrontava con la violenza del regime cinese per l’assenza di diritti fondamentali dell’individuo, per le detenzioni senza un processo che verifichi la responsabilità dei reati, per la sostanziale mancanza di uno stato di diritto. Le parole di Ai Weiwei raccontano i pedinamenti degli agenti in borghese, la detenzione e il rilascio, le angherie del governo, la rabbia e la frustrazione, ma anche le idee e i nuovi progetti; Barnaby Martin le raccoglie una a una nelle stanze dello studio di Pechino.
